This week has been full of movement: physically, emotionally, and professionally. I’m still reflecting on the experience of becoming a U.S. citizen, a moment that stirred up unexpected feelings about belonging, identity, and home. It’s one thing to hold a passport, and another to feel rooted. On the blog, I continued my Bridging Jinji人事 and U.S. HR series with a story about how thoughtless orders, especially in hierarchical cultures, can spark more than just workplace tension. Sometimes, they ignite real fires. It’s a reminder that communication isn’t just about clarity, it’s about care. I also shared insights from my time working in Northampton, MA, where I’ve been exploring how to bridge gaps in global HR. The conversations here have been rich: full of nuance, curiosity, and a shared desire to build more culturally mindful workplaces. And finally, after a whirlwind of travel, I found myself wishing for a Doko Demo Doa, Doraemon’s magical “Anywhere Door.” The dream of teleportation feels especially tempting when your suitcase is still half-packed.
