This week has been all about connection, across cultures, communities, and train tracks. I kicked things off with a reflection on Tabemasho, the vibrant event in San Francisco’s Japantown where I joined the JCCNC gold sponsor table. It was more than just delicious food and wine, it was a reminder of the power of local connections and how community events can spark meaningful conversations and new friendships. I also shared a personal piece: From Komatsu to California, where I reflect on joining USJETAA and the journey from being a JET in rural Ishikawa to building a cross-cultural career in the U.S. It’s been a winding path, full of surprises, growth, and a deepening appreciation for the bridges we build between Japan and America.
