Last week Friday, I attended the Japan Society Gala at the Hyatt at SFO airport, a night of elegance, tradition, and reflection. It reminded me how powerful it can be to show up, even when you feel out of place. Being surrounded by leaders and change makers in US-Japan relations was both humbling and energizing, and it reaffirmed my belief in the importance of presence. On Monday, I volunteered at the CGJ/JCCNC U.S.-Japan Dual-Use Tech Seminar focused on the space sector. The room was packed, the energy was high, and the speakers were phenomenal. It was a reminder of how much potential lies in US-Japan innovation, especially when it comes to orbit. Today I posted about how Tokyo has been celebrating Halloween in its own unique way. From themed snacks to costumed commuters, spooky season there is a delightful mix of cute and creepy. Last night, I joined a pitch event organized by JETRO and Tokyo Metro, where Japanese startups presented their ideas in front of a dynamic audience. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next in Tokyo’s innovation scene, and I’ll be writing about it next week so stay tuned!
