This week’s blog posts all explored different ways meaning shows up when we slow down enough to notice the layers beneath the surface. From cross‑cultural work, to garden design, to small daily rituals, each post reflects a quieter approach to fulfillment. On Mindful Monday, I continued my series inspired by Shigehiro Oishi’s Life in 3 Dimensions, focusing on psychological richness. Drawing from my experiences living and working in Japan and now working with Japanese companies in the United States, I reflected on how richness often comes from complexity rather than comfort. Silence, indirect communication, and gradual decision making can be challenging, but they are also where learning and perspective shifts happen. Bridging these cultural approaches has become one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Working Wednesday took me into a completely different setting as I spent the day visiting private gardens with landscape designer Yoshi Kuraishi. What stood out was not only the beauty of the gardens, but the intentionality behind them. Long term planning, careful execution, and consistent maintenance echoed the Japanese approach to work as practice. The gardens became a powerful metaphor for how quality is built patiently, through daily care rather than dramatic effort. On Fun Friday, I shifted to something much smaller and more personal. Two calendars on my desk have become a simple morning ritual that helps set the tone for my day. One anchors me in time, the other in mindset. Together, they are a reminder that how we begin our day matters, and that joy can be found in familiar, understated details.
