After that, it feels like the moment has passed and it’s time to look ahead. In Japan, that window is even shorter: the deadline for New Year greetings is January 7th, and if you didn’t send your nengajo (New Year’s postcards) by then… you’re officially too late! I love this cultural nuance because it reflects something deeper: the importance of timing and intention. It’s not about endless “Happy New Year” messages, it’s about starting the year thoughtfully and then moving forward.
