Making an impact even when you can’t be everywhere
There are so many events and summits taking place across Japan right now that it sometimes feels impossible to keep up. Each one is thoughtfully curated, brings together inspiring speakers, and offers valuable learning and connection opportunities. I genuinely enjoy participating in these gatherings, meeting people, exchanging ideas, and contributing to meaningful conversations around leadership, global teams, and organizational growth. At the same time, the reality is that being physically present at every event is not always feasible.
Scheduling conflicts, travel, and ongoing work commitments mean that difficult choices have to be made. Even when there is a strong desire to attend in person, it is not always possible to do so in a way that does justice to both the event and existing responsibilities. Rather than stepping back entirely, the question becomes how to continue contributing in a way that still delivers value.
For this particular forum, the solution was to participate through a pre-recorded video together with Kasia. In this session, Kasia and I talk about how we help global teams prepare to work more effectively across cultures. We focus on practical ways organizations can align communication styles, build shared expectations, and create environments where collaboration becomes more natural and productive rather than forced or inefficient. Delivering this content in Japanese was especially meaningful, as it allows us to connect directly with the audience in the local language and context.
This project was also a truly lovely collaboration with Imaizumi san’s team. From the early planning stages through to the final recording, the process was smooth, thoughtful, and highly professional. There was a strong sense of mutual respect and shared purpose throughout, which made the experience not only productive but also enjoyable. Working across different perspectives and bringing everything together into one cohesive session reflected exactly the kind of global teamwork we advocate for in our work.
Even though the session is in Japanese, language should not be a barrier for anyone who is interested. With today’s translation apps and tools, it has become remarkably easy to follow along, understand key concepts, and engage with content that might previously have felt inaccessible. In many ways, this opens the door to a much broader audience and creates new opportunities for cross border learning.
While it is not always possible to attend every event in person, it is encouraging to see how flexible formats like pre recorded sessions allow for continued participation and knowledge sharing. It is also a reminder that with the right tools and mindset, collaboration and learning can extend far beyond physical presence.
If this resonates, I would love for you to tune in on July 2nd and join us for the session.
