My Family: Nino delivers in this gripping 10-episode drama about child kidnapping.

I’m a longtime fan of Nino (Kazunari Ninomiya) and so when this new series popped up on Hulu just a week or so ago I sat down to watch the first episode. I wasn’t expecting that much, tbh Japanese drama can be hit or miss, but boy this time I had to force myself to stop after 2 episodes a day!

Nino plays Haruto Narusawa, a busy game company CEO. Being a mostly absent father obviously has an impact on his family life but as his young daughter gets kidnapped he steps up to save her. What follows are nine more episodes of twists and turns and increasingly good acting that had me hooked until the last moment.

The added fun for our household is that this series takes place in and around Kamakura, so my husband and I were pointing out landmarks to each other and trying to guess where the latest car chase was passing. Nothing like seeing your old haunts to make you feel nostalgic!

So, here’s another chance for you to watch a good series and brush up some of your contemporary Japanese at the same time!
