Using coaching techniques at work Part 3: Focus on the whole person / Omoiyari
As a newly graduated CTI-Trained Coach, I'm of course full of the experience and learning I've had the past 6 months while I was in the program. Some of the learning was new, but some I realized I've been practicing for years already.
Focus on the Whole Person: This principle emphasizes recognizing and valuing all aspects of an individual—emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual. It advocates for a holistic approach in coaching and personal development.
Omoiyari (思いやり)translates to "thoughtfulness" or "consideration for others." It embodies empathy, compassion, and the understanding of others' feelings and needs.
I feel a deep connection between these two concepts, especially by by actively listening and being attuned to a clients' emotional states it becomes possible to offer an even more personalized and holistic coaching experience.
In team settings, fostering a culture of omoiyari can enhance collaboration and understanding, which aligns with the goal of focusing on the whole person within a group dynamic.
