Why I love creating learning that matters
One of the things I love most about working with Japan Consulting Office is the constant opportunity to create. Every new session feels like building a bridge, connecting cultures, ideas, and people. And honestly, the fact that we’re encouraged and incentivized to keep learning ourselves makes the process even more fulfilling.
When I sit down to develop a new program, I’m not just thinking about slides or content. I’m imagining the real challenges people face: Japanese professionals stepping into unfamiliar environments, teams trying to collaborate across systems, leaders wanting to give feedback that truly motivates. My goal is to make learning practical, safe, and empowering.
Here are some of the things I developed for Japan Consulting Office this year:
Thriving in the Americas (1-hour eLearning in Japanese)
I loved crafting this because it’s short, actionable, and designed to help Japanese expats feel confident in a completely new cultural setting.Project Management across Systems (2-hour session)
This one was inspired by real-world frustrations: how do you work together when everyone uses a different tool? I wanted to give people strategies they could apply immediately.SMART Goal Setting (2-hour session)
These sessions are close to my heart because they help leaders and staff turn vague intentions into clear, achievable steps. Watching participants have those “aha” moments is priceless.
Feedback and Coaching for Supervisors using SMART Goal Setting (2-hour session)
Separately, I developed a session on giving feedback and coaching for supervisors, using SMART goals as a foundation to make feedback constructive and motivating. This session goes beyond theory, it’s about creating a safe space where leaders can practice real conversations, learn how to phrase feedback so it inspires rather than discourages, and understand how to turn coaching moments into growth opportunities.Business English for Japanese Expats (10-week program)
Creating a safe space for language learning is so important. I focused on practical scenarios: meetings, presentations and much more, so participants can use English with confidence.
The great thing is, every time I create something new, I learn too! I dive into cultural nuances, explore communication strategies, and discover what really matters to professionals working globally. Because these sessions are tailored for Japanese expats or local hires who work with Japanese companies, I’m constantly thinking about how to bridge cultural expectations with practical business skills. That means learning isn’t just about theory, it’s about understanding the subtle differences that shape collaboration, feedback, and goal-setting across cultures. Being incentivized to keep learning means I’m not just teaching, I’m growing alongside our clients. And that sense of shared progress? It’s what makes this work so meaningful.
