You probably think I do nothing but watch Japanese drama's on Netflix, but I can't but share this new one I stumbled upon!

Hōkago Karte - 放課後カルテ (literally "after school medical record") or "After school Doctor" in English, is another medical-adjacent drama. I know I wrote before I needed to branch out, but this is such a fun one I couldn't resist 😄

Pediatrician Makino gets sent to an elementary school as punishment for being too blunt and abrupt with his young patients at the hospital. Obviously this doesn't go down very well with both teachers and kids as he comes across as blunt and uninterested!

After a while though, although grumpy and seemingly standoffish, Dr Makino actually manages to gain the kids' & teachers' trust by diagnosing some unusual illnesses.

There's lots of big and little drama, connected both to the school and what happened at the hospital before Makino sensei he got sent away. I also love how all the characters evolve over the 10 episodes, the kids are some of the best actors in the series! Lots of future talent in Japanese cinema for sure ㊗️

The Japanese in this series is super relevant, so grab your popcorn and notebook, and get ready to learn some more Japanese in a fun and engaging way!

Finally a non-medical drama I like! フクロウと呼ばれた男 (a man called Owl) - translated as 'House of the Owl' on Hulu/Disney+ this time.
